We will meet at the indicated time in front of the central fountain of the Jardim da Praça do Império and, once reunited, we will head towards the Monument to the Discoveries.
After discovering the history of this emblematic monument, we will undertake a walking tour of the Belém neighborhood and continue towards the Church of the Jerónimos Monastery, one of the great works of art of the Manueline Gothic, which houses the burial places of the Portuguese royals. Inside the temple we will be able to observe the tomb of the poet Luis de Camoes and the explorer Vasco da Gama.
Next, we will visit a traditional pastry shop that prepares delicious pastéis de nata following the traditional recipe of the monks. If you want, you can try some!
After this optional tasting, we will reach the Ajuda Palace by public transport, the ancient residence of the queen most loved by the Portuguese, Maria Pia of Savoy, daughter of Vittorio Emanuele II.
During the visit, we will explore the different rooms, including the royal apartments and the Throne Room. Furthermore, we will see an important collection of sculptures, engravings and paintings by artists such as El Greco or Géricault, and another collection of decorative art from the 18th and 19th centuries only which includes jewellery, furniture and glass and ceramic objects.
After three and a half to four hours, we will conclude the activity in front of Ajuda Palace.
